How to Use WO Mic on Discord (Windows 10 & 11 Setup Guide)
If your headset microphone broke before a raid or a voice call, WO Mic lets you turn any Android phone or iPhone into a low-latency microphone for Discord on Windows. Because WO Mic installs a kernel-level virtual recording device (WO Mic Virtual Device), Discord treats your phone like a physical USB microphone.

Step 1: Connect WO Mic Before Launching Discord
Discord enumerates audio input devices when it starts. Always establish the WO Mic connection first so the virtual device is active:
- Install and open the WO Mic Windows Client on your PC and the mobile app on your Android phone or iPhone.
- Select your transport: USB gives the lowest latency (18–30 ms) for competitive gaming, while 5 GHz Wi-Fi (35–80 ms) works well for casual voice channels. Avoid Bluetooth for Discord if possible — Bluetooth SCO adds 120–220 ms of delay.
- Click Connection → Connect in the PC client and verify the status bar reads Connected.
Step 2: Select WO Mic Inside Discord Voice Settings
- Open Discord and click the gear icon (User Settings) next to your username.
- Navigate to App Settings → Voice & Video.
- Under Input Device, change Default to Microphone (WO Mic Device). Explicitly selecting the device prevents Discord from switching back to a webcam or monitor microphone after a Windows update.
- Click Let’s Check under Mic Test and speak into your phone held 15–20 cm from your mouth.
Step 3: Optimal Discord Voice Processing Settings for Phone Mics
Phone microphones have higher sensitivity than dynamic desk mics and pick up room reflections easily. Use this tested configuration inside Discord’s Voice & Video tab to eliminate robotic artifacts and keyboard clicks:
| Discord Setting | Recommended Value | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Input Sensitivity | Manual: −55 dB to −48 dB | Auto-sensitivity clips the first syllable over Wi-Fi |
| Noise Suppression | Krisp (ON) | Filters PC fan hum and mechanical keyboard noise |
| Echo Cancellation | ON (if using speakers) / OFF (with headphones) | Prevents double compression when you wear headphones |
| Automatic Gain Control | OFF | Stops Discord from boosting background hiss during silence |
| Audio Subsystem | Standard | Best compatibility with the WO Mic WDM virtual driver |
Troubleshooting Discord + WO Mic Issues
- Discord shows “No Input Detected” even though WO Mic says Connected: Open Windows Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone and confirm both Let apps access your microphone and Let desktop apps access your microphone are enabled.
- Voice sounds robotic after 10 minutes: Android is throttling Wi-Fi when the phone screen turns off. Exclude WO Mic from battery optimization and switch to a USB cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. See our full WO Mic troubleshooting guide.
- High ping or voice lag in game: Switch transport from Wi-Fi to USB with USB Debugging. USB uses local ADB port forwarding and never touches your router.
